Who we are
5 Minute Pup is run by Nathan D. Butcher, an individual based in the San Antonio, Texas area, USA ("we", "us"). It is a pet-training web app for adults.
What we collect
Without an account. Everything you enter (your pet's profile, plan, lesson progress and notes) stays in your browser's local storage on your device. We don't receive it.
With an account, we store:
- Account details: your email address, a securely hashed password (if you sign up with email) and sign-in times. If you use Continue with Google, we receive your Google account ID, name, email address and profile picture link from Google.
- Reminder setting: whether daily reminder emails are on, and when we last sent one.
- Subscription details: your plan (yearly or lifetime), its status and renewal date, and the customer and subscription IDs that Stripe gives us. We never see or store your full card number.
- With Premium (cloud sync): your pet profile (name, type, age group, goals and behavior issues you pick), the lessons you complete and when, and the behavior notes you save. Without Premium, this stays on your device only.
Technical data. Like any website, our hosting and database providers process your IP address and basic browser information to deliver pages and keep the service secure, and may keep it briefly in their logs.
How we use it
- To run your account, build your training plan, and sync progress across your devices if you have Premium.
- To process payments and unlock Premium.
- To send account emails (sign-up confirmation and password reset) and, only if you turn them on, a daily training reminder. Every reminder has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also turn reminders off in the app.
We don't sell your data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking tools.
Service providers
We use these companies to run 5 Minute Pup. Each one processes data only to provide its service to us:
- Vercel: hosts the website and the app's server functions.
- Supabase: accounts, sign-in and the database (hosted in the United States).
- Stripe: payments and subscription billing.
- Resend: sends account and reminder emails.
- Google: Google sign-in, only if you choose it. Google's sign-in script loads only when you open the sign-in screen.
- jsDelivr: delivers the Supabase code library the app runs on, so it sees your IP address when the app loads.
5 Minute Pup shares its account system, database and email-sending service with Bright Minds Club, another app by the same developer. Pup data is kept in its own tables. Pup emails are currently sent from a Bright Minds Club email address.
Cookies and local storage
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. The app uses your browser's local storage to save your plan and progress and to keep you signed in, and a service worker to cache pages and images so the app opens quickly and works offline. Google (if you use Google sign-in) and Stripe (on its checkout and billing pages) may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. We don't delete inactive accounts automatically. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it along with your profile, pets, lesson progress, notes, reminder setting and subscription record. We'll do this within 30 days of your request. Stripe keeps payment records for as long as the law requires, under its own policy. Data saved only on your device stays there until you clear it. Signing out of a Premium account clears it from that device.
Delete your data
You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time. Email us at the address below from the email connected to your account.
Children
5 Minute Pup is for adults. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Purchases must be made by an adult. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Database access rules limit each account to its own data, and passwords are stored only as secure hashes by our sign-in provider.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app or by email.
